OBITUARY Michael Wayne Rich June 10, 1946 – January 1, 2019 Michael Wayne Rich, 72, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway. Mike was born in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky on June 10, 1946 to the late Glenda and Coleman Rich. Mike honorably served in 101st and the 173D Airborne Brigade.

In 1965-1967, he was a paratrooper in the Vietnam War, received Bronze Star with V Device, Two Presidential Citations, Army Commendation Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. Mike previously worked at Sterling Boiler and was a laborer for Labor Local 561. He was a member of the VFW Post 2953, American Legion, DAV, AMVETS, Rolling Thunder, and 40/8 Association.

Mike enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his loving dog companion, Yeller. He, also, enjoyed fishing, hunting, spot shoots, motorcycles and spending time at the river. Mike had a good sense of humor and enjoyed story telling of childhood and life experiences.

Mike was a caring and giving person and, also, an organ donor. Mike is survived by wife, Sharon, childhood sweetheart; son, Michael Ralph; sister, Debbie Rich and husband, Irvin French of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Kevin and Linda Rich of Indianapolis, IN; brother-in-law, Michael J. Vaughn; sister-in-law, Geri and husband Bob McGraw; sister-in-law Debbie and husband David Edwards; and various nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel on Lincoln Avenue.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel and on Friday, 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be immediately after the service at Park Lawn Cemetery with full military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
