Obituary for “Mike” Thomas Malcomb Taylor “Mike” Thomas Malcomb Taylor, of Rockwall, TX, passed away July 2, 2018, at the age of 70, in Los Angeles, CA. He was born November 16, 1947, in Winston-Salem, NC, to Paul Piersen Taylor and Dorothy (Allgood) Tabit. Mike’s passions were his church and his family.
He was married to his sweetheart, Nancy, for 48 years. Together they loved to travel the world with friends and family, and also spent many good times at their lake house in East Texas. Mike enjoyed being in nature and marveling at all of God’s creation.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Rockwall for 40 years, he was known to have a servant’s heart and was a Deacon. Mike wasn’t just a Deacon in name, Mike lived to serve others and found joy in being a light to those in need. Mike was very tender-hearted and loved people.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, and he could always be found with Nancy at his side. His passion was his grandkids and he never turned down an opportunity to be with them, laugh with them, teach them and tell them how much he loved them. He had a connection with them that they will never forget.
Mike passed away travelling back after having spent a week together with his family on vacation. During his last week, Mike was completely full of life, dancing, joking and taking walks with family. On his last night before going home to be with the Lord, the family enjoyed a wonderful Hawaiian sunset cruise which was a fitting end for a life well lived.
Mike is survived by his loving wife: Nancy Taylor; sons: Nolen Taylor and wife Ann and Nathen Taylor and wife Emily; grandchildren: Will Brossman, Laura Taylor, Avery Brossman, Lane Brossman, Logan Taylor, Jack Taylor and Bella Taylor; and brother: James Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Pamela Taylor. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Friday, July 6, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad Street, Rockwall with Pastor Steve Swofford officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall. A gathering for family and friends will be held at the church one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00pm.
