Mildred Elonie Hooks Calloway, 75, of Concord, NC passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. Mildred was born November 16, 1942 in Charlotte, NC to the late Oscar Roosevelt Hooks and the late Lonie Stegall Hooks. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jerry Calloway; and brothers Pete Hooks and Joe Hooks.

Survivors include sons Johnny Sain and wife Camille; Wallace Sain and wife Pam; Leon Sain and wife Lynn; daughters Kim Sain; and Keriette Lambert and husband Jay; grandchildren Casey, April, Brandon, Samantha, Stephanie, Celeste, Savannah, Peyton and Tanner; great grandchildren Robby, Reagan, Ryan, Nathan, Michael, Ava, Case and Holland, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mildred retired after 35 years from Dixon Quick Connect Coupling Company in Charlotte. She loved spending time with her family as she sat on the front porch, or you could often find her at her kitchen bar drinking coffee.

Mildred’s favorite past time was taking naps. She was dearly loved and will be truly missed by all. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.

The funeral service will be on Friday at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Rev. Tim Newton. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
