Miles’ Obituary Sgt. Miles Mayo Capps, III, age 61 of Columbia, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro.

Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 3-7 PM and again on Sunday from 1-2PM at the funeral home.

Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Columbia, Miles was born on September 17, 1957 and was the son of the late Miles Mayo Capps, Jr. and the late Marjorie L. Frederick Capps. He served eight years in the United States Army and twelve years in the National Guard and was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

Miles was a History buff who loved sports, especially baseball, and was an avid Cardinals, Packers, and UT Vols fan. He loved to spoil his cat, Smokey. He is survived by his brother: Harold Seaton (Linda Kay) Capps of Columbia; sisters: April (J.D.) Brooks of Hampshire, Susan Frazier of Hampshire, Vielallar (Steve) Anderson of the Saw Dust Community, Carrie (Todd) Mobley of Nunnelly; sister-in-law: Nancy Capps of Columbia and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: James “Jimmy” Roy Capps and Brady Capps. Pallbearers will be: Jeffrey D. Brooks, T.J. Brown, Shane Anderson, Joel Ricketts, James Truette, Matthew Capps, Chad Rummage, and Cody Truette. Honorary pallbearers will include: Steve Anderson and Todd Mobley.
