Robert’s Obituary Mr. Robert Donald Waddell, age 89, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday evening, February 25, 2019 at NHC Cool Springs. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10AM at Heritage Funeral Home with John Vaughn officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2PM at Fitzgerald Cemetery in Celina, Tennessee with Military Honors provided by the United States Army.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on April 9, 1929 in Celina, Tennessee, Robert was the son of the late John Waddell and the late Ollie Goodpasture Waddell.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Robert married Lucy Lynn on June 7, 1953. After marrying, they moved to Cookeville where they resided until 1974 before moving to Columbia.

Robert previously worked as an Executive at Farm Bureau in Columbia. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ where he served as an Elder. Robert loved his farm, enjoyed golfing, and was an avid Tennessee Volunteers fan.

He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son: David (Cindy) Waddell of Brentwood; daughter: Debbie Waddell of Nashville; grandchildren: John (Ellen) Waddell of Brentwood, Emily (Ryan) Edwards of Franklin; and great grandchildren: Rowan Waddell and Houston Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Waddell on August 29, 2015, and sisters: Katherine Richardson and Betty Boese.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Pat Summitt Alzheimer’s Research Foundation: 520 W. Summitt Hill Drive, Suite 1101, Knoxville, TN 37902.
