Obituary for Miriam Temple Cedar Falls – Miriam Temple, age 84, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 6 in Little York, IL as the result of an auto accident. She was born July 5, 1933 in Waverly, the daughter of Rev. Dr. Herbert and Mildred (Donat) Temple.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1951, and received a BA from Cornell College in 1955. She worked as an instructor at Clinton Community College, and after receiving her Masters at age 50, worked as the Coordinator of Adult Education in Iowa Community Colleges for the Department of Education in Des Moines until her retirement at the age of 65. On July 6, 2014, she married Thoburn “Toby” Thompson in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: a son, Greg (Marcia) Dawes of Wake Forest, NC; a daughter, Becky (Mick Patrick) Dawes of Cedar Rapids; Toby’s three daughters, Catherine (Phil) James of Madison, WI, Sarah (Marv) Tonn of Oakdale, MN, and Susan (John) Helgeson of Alexandria, MN; three granddaughters, Keely (Jared Knight) Burke of Iowa City, Amanda Mohan of Raleigh, NC, and Giuliana Dawes of Wake Forest, NC; and Toby’s grandkids, Brian, Matthew, and Amy James of Madison, WI, Keedy and Hattie Tonn of Oakdale, MN, and Toby John, Michael and Sam Helgeson of Alexandria, MN Preceded in death by: her brother, Philip Temple; two sisters, Lois Hansen, and Ruth Kirkman; and Toby’s son, Ian Thompson. Funeral services will be 11am Friday, June 15 at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Thursday, June 14 at Richardson Funeral Service, and also one hour prior to the service at church.
