Obituary for Modesta Bermudez (Morales) Modesta Bermudez, age 96 of Bridgeport, the widow of Francisco Bermudez Cruz, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at North Bridge Nursing Home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and staff. Modesta was born on July 18, 1921, in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, the beloved daughter of the late Marcelo Morales & Fernanda Rivera. Modesta was a caring mother of ten, she raised her children in the Catholic faith.

Modesta enjoyed cooking for her family and functions, she also attended many bingo games. Modesta was charismatic, she often sang, danced and loved to spend time with her family. Later in life she spent hours in front of her window on Sanford Ave.

and was known as the neighborhood’s grandma. In addition to her parents and spouse, Modesta was predeceased by two sons, Isasio Rodriguez and Luis Bermudez. Modesta is survived by: two sons, Arsenio & daughter-in-law Robin Rodriguez, Francisco Jr. & daughter-in-law Silvia Bermudez; six daughters, Carmen & son-in-law Andre Hernandez, Gloria Bermudez, Liz Bermudez, Luz M. Cruz, Adelina & son-in-law Steve Dileo, Awilda Velazquez; sisters, Bienvenida, Francisca, Teofila, Paula Morales; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish Modesta’s memory.

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff of North Bridge Health Care Center for the wonderful care and attention provided to Modesta from the Bermudez family. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 11:am to 12:pm at Community Funeral Chapels 798 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT.
