Nadine’s Obituary Penfold, Nadine (nee Putney) At the age of 94, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away peacefully on December 10, 2018. Beloved wife of 57 years to the late Curtis J. Penfold of East Aurora, New York. Loving mother of Richard (Karen) Penfold of Orchard Park, NY, Kathie Christian (Bob) Fielder of Hudson, FL and Timothy (Karen) Penfold of East Aurora, NY.
Loving grandmother of Patrick (Mary Carol) Penfold, Betsy (John) Sullivan, Christopher (Diana) Kraster, Nicolaas (Ari McManus) Kraster, Justin (Julie) Penfold, Kristina (Carlos) Flores, Michael (Nicole) Penfold, Jacquelyn (Taimour) Shaikh, Robert (Erin) Penfold and Christine (William) Chambers. Great-grandmother of Abigail Sullivan, Joseph Sullivan, Rebecca Sullivan, Curtis Penfold, Luke Penfold, Erik Kraster, Curtis Kraster, Dominic Penfold, Damien Penfold, Hailey Penfold, Patrick Penfold, Claire Penfold, Elizabeth Penfold and 2 on the way in 2019! Sister of the late Robert (late Pauline) Putney of Farmersville, NY, late John “Jack” (Eleanor) Putney of East Aurora, late Joan (Les) Platz of Tennessee.
Also survived by nieces and nephews. Nadine was born to the late Rufus and late Helen (nee Neville) Putney of Strykersville, NY. She graduated from Arcade Central High School and moved to Lockport, NY to work for Harrison Radiator.
She married Curtis J. Penfold on September 20, 1944 and they welcomed their three children while living in East Aurora. An avid seamstress, Nadine was known to create and alter many fashionable clothing items, including her daughter-in-law’s wedding dress, as well as others. She inspired others to sew while working at the Aurora Sewing Center.
Nadine was most helpful to her husband, who owned a waste collection business in East Aurora. The extended family enjoyed many years on Rushford Lake with Curt and Nadine, where they loved to entertain! Nadine could often be found on their riding mower, as she loved to cut grass well into her senior years!
Affectionately know as “Oma” to all, Nadine was a grandmother to more than just her family. Curt and Nadine retired to Florida after years of “snow-birding” between WNY and Florida, where Curt passed away in 2002. Nadine also volunteered with Hospice while in Florida.
Dean was lovingly cared for by her children; most notable her daughter, who cared for her while she was still independent and her grandson Christopher, who managed the Assisted Living Facility where Oma lived her last years. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Dean’s life at Immaculate Conception Church in East Aurora, NY on May 28, 2019 at 9:30 AM.
