Nancy Ann “Tan” Crossnoe Thornton, 82, Peru, Indiana, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Community Hospital, North, Indianapolis, Indiana. Born August 23, 1935, in Alamo, Tennessee, she was the daughter of David Roberson Crossnoe and Pearl Hannah Crossnoe. For many years, she was an elementary teacher, having taught in several different schools as she lived all around the United States.

She was a dedicated teacher who adored children, and she was cherished by all as an incredible mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who treated everyone as family, unconditionally. Above all else, Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, and she is lovingly remembered by her two children, Brian Thornton, San Diego, CA; and Jennifer Thornton Greer, Denver; four grandchildren, Samuel Thornton, Jack Thornton, both of San Diego, CA; Briahnna Greer, and Gunnar Greer, both of Denver; and step-daughter, Aubrey West, St. Louis; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Miller, Bells, TN; two nephews, David (Renee) Miller, Knoxville, TN; and Charles (Julie) Miller, Nashville, TN; and great nieces, Hannah and Natalie Miller, Nashville, TN; and Molly “Beanie” and Avery Kate Miller, Knoxville, TN. Services will be Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bells Funeral Home, Bells, Tennessee, with Bro.

Wayne Foropoulos officiating. Burial will follow in Oakview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.
