Obituary for Mrs. Nancy Enslen Mathewson Nancy Enslen Mathewson, 70, of Weaverville died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 after a two-year battle with ALS. A native of Wilmington, DE, she was born November 13, 1947, the daughter of the late Gerald Everett Enslen and Mary Belle Crawford Enslen. Nancy graduated in 1969 from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA with a Bachelor of Arts and earned a Master’s in Public Administration from George Washington University, Washington, D. C. in 1978.

She married John R. Mathewson on March 10, 1979 and lived most of her adult life in Arlington County, Virginia where she worked for the local government as a management and programs analyst. Nancy and John retired to beautiful western North Carolina in 2006. Nancy was a proud member of PEO, the Asheville Quilt Guild and Beaucatchers.

In addition to travel, she loved nothing more than spending time with her extended family and her North Carolina friends. Her survivors include her husband of 39 years, John R. Mathewson; son, Paul E. Mathewson of San Francisco, CA; brothers, David Enslen and his wife, Kathy of Prairie Village, KS and Donald Enslen and his wife, Karen of Port Republic, VA, four nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews.
