Nancy’s Obituary Nancy Sloan Cawthon passed away peacefully on January 17, 2019. She was born July 25, 1928 to Paul Anderson and Sara Becton Sloan and grew up in Dallas with her sister Peggy. Nancy attended Highland Park schools, Hockaday and graduated from Gulf Park in Gulfport, MS.

She attended SMU where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority; and on September 6, 1950, she married Frank Cawthon at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. They raised their three children in Denver CO. and Madison WI.

before returning to Texas in 1966 to make their home in Denton. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, parents and her son Alan. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Sennett Kirk and son and daughter-in-law Stuart and Jan Cawthon, and Sharon Appleton; grandchildren Cassie Freeman, Melinda Kirk, Lindy Kirk, Jenny (Cawthon) Gwinner, Joanna (Cawthon) Haggard and Clare, Caroline and Bennett Cawthon; great-grandchildren Jackson, Sloan, Sydney, Caroline, Nolan, Nash and Conrad.

She also leaves her sister Peggy Sloan Hill and her nieces, the three Hill girls and nephews, the four Penn boys. Above all, Nancy loved her husband, she loved her family, she loved her friends and she loved her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember her with a contribution to the charity of your choice.

As was her wish, Nancy will be cremated. Her ashes will be joined with those of her sweet Frank and scattered in all of the many places they visited and loved so much. A private service in memory of our beloved and always fun Nance will be held at a later date.
