Obituary for Nancy Watson (Lightfoot) Nancy Lightfoot Watson, age 90, passed away January 11, 2019 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. She was born to Victor F. and Dimple M. Lightfoot in Durant, Oklahoma June 14, 1928. She graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1945 and attended Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma where she met and married Clarence Watson.

They moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1954 where Nancy resided until her death. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from New Mexico State University in 1964. Subsequently, she worked as a social caseworker for the Department of Public Welfare and later, as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.

She retired in 1988. She was a member of Mesilla Park Baptist Church. She truly loved New Mexico and enjoyed exploring the state which she often referred to as “God’s Country”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Watson of Las Cruces, and her older brother, Jimmie Lightfoot, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She is survived by her son, Clarence Watson Jr., and his wife Alice of Leland, NC; two grandchildren, Ethan Watson of Wilmington, North Carolina and Tim Watson of Jacksonville, Florida; and two great grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Watson and Will Watson of Wilmington, North Carolina. Visitation will be January 16, 1019 from 5PM to 7PM at Getz Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be January 17, 2019 at 10AM at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 East Bowman Ave. Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Rev.

Joe Thompson of Elk City, Oklahoma will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be D.K. Evans, Gabe Mata, Ethan Watson, and Tim Watson.
