Nelda Louvenda Cox Ward, 69, of Columbus, GA passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Columbus Hospice. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 24, 2018 at HarvestPointe Church of the Nazarene, 7777 Whitesville Rd, Columbus, GA beginning at 11:00 a.m. (EST) with Pastor Gary Tankersley officiating. Nelda was born on May 28, 1949 in Grafton, West Virginia to the late Edman Lee Cox and Mary Magdalene Mayle Cox.

HarvestPointe Church of the Nazarene is where Nelda accepted Christ and was baptized. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, Allison Crouse, and Alan Jackson. Her favorite flower was a lily of the valley.

Other than his parents, Nelda is preceded in death by her brother, Arnold B. Cox; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert J. and Jacqulyn M. Ward; and her fur baby, Bear. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of over 27 years, Robert S. Ward; daughters, Lisa M. Purinton (Larry) and Michelle L. Ortiz (Will); sisters, Alice C. Grantham (Lawton), Lorita E. Schlegel (Bill), Crystal A. Sears (Frank), and Glenda N. Sommerfield (George); brother, Lonnie E. Cox; grandchildren, Kaylee Purinton, Shane Purinton, Savannah DeCarlo, Summer Ortiz; great grandchildren, Lucas Johnson and Nathan Johnson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Nelda L. Ward to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Rd, Columbus, GA, 31909.
