Nettie Belle Stevens, 95, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at her home. She was born in Cambridge on July 20, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Belle Spedden James. Nettie Belle graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1939, where she excelled in sports.

Following graduation, she went to work at the main office of the Phillips Packing Co. Later, she worked for Delmarva Power until she retired. Nettie Belle’s hobby was collecting and furnishing dollhouses. She married Herman Stevens on August 2, 1941.

They had two children, a son, Ray Stevens and wife Bonnie of Oxford and a daughter Kaye Thomas and husband Jim of Salisbury, five grandchildren Andy Thomas of New Jersey, Betsy Thomas of New York, Tricia Payne of South Carolina, Gay Bray of North Carolina and Ladd Stevens of South Carolina, six great grandchildren, James, Liam, and Genevieve Payne and Davis, Sophie and Belle Bray, and a sister Mary Lou Lombardo of Florida. Besides her parents, Nettie Belle is preceded in death by four brothers Parvin, Cody, Lee and Bill James, and a sister Alice Ruark. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Dave Stewart and Pastor Joel Beiler officiating.

Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 12 to 1. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
