Obituary for Neva Carolyn Neff Neva was born in Kootenai, Bonner County, Idaho on August 25, 1928 to Arleigh Lavan Satterlee and Beulah Basford. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 16, 2018 in Newberg, Ore. She had suffered a serious stroke in 2005.

She received wonderful care for 13 years from the Nurses and Caregivers in the Friendsview Retirement Health Center. She was admitted to Providence Hospice Care in July 2017 and also had great care from them. She was one of 11 children (8 girls and 3 boys).

It was a very close family growing up on a farm in Northern Idaho and then Sandpoint, Idaho. Her family moved to Forest Grove, Oregon in 1942. She graduated from High School there in 1945 and then attended Biola College graduating there in 1950 with a degree in Christian Education.

She attended Lewis and Clark College, graduating in 1975 with an MA in Education. She taught grade school in the Reedville School District and the Newberg School District for 24 years, retiring in 1990 after teaching at Ewing Young Grade School for the last 5 years. She met Jack Neff (Clarence) at Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon where they were married on July 20, 1952 and had a wonderful marriage of 66 years.

They had four sons, Gregory, David, Dale (deceased), and Timothy, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is a charter member of Village Baptist Church in Beaverton, OR and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Newberg, Oregon. She taught Kindergarten in Village Baptist Church in 1950-51.

She taught Sunday School in Burlingame Baptist Church and then the family moved to Newberg in 1969. She was very active in First Baptist Church (now Grace Baptist Church) in the Women’s ministry and teaching. She was revered by all her students and was a great influence in their lives.

She was a super mom and loved her family. She always wanted a daughter but God said we could only have sons so she inherited wonderful “daughters”. A memorial service will be held in her honor at Grace Baptist Church at a later date.
