Nicolas C.’s Obituary Nicolas C. Cantu Sr., lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019, at 7:43 P.M., at his residence, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, 1 day. Nicolas was born February 10, 1928, in Saspamco, Texas, the son of Mogono Cantu and Anastacia Cardenas Cantu. He married Thomasa Gamez in 1956.

Nicolas worked for many years with TxDot, before retiring, and was a member of Iglesia Baustista El Calverio Church in Floresville. Nicolas is survived by his beloved wife, Thomasa Cantu of Floresville; his children, Liberty Castro, Linda Diaz, Alma Olivarez, Nicholas Cantu Jr., and wife Cindy, and Margaret Cantu, all of Floresville; his sister, Rosa Rendon and husband Valentine of Floresville; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Johnny Tovar of San Antonio. Nicolas was preceded in death by his parents, Mogono and Anastacia Cantu; and his sister, Mary Tovar.

Visitation began at 5 P.M. Sunday, followed by the prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville. Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 14, 2019, at Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, officiated by Pastor Freddie Amaro. Interment followed at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Saspamco, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers were Nicolas Cantu, Henry James Castro, Raymond Castro, Greg Garza, David Lawrence Gonzalez, and Robert Pagan.
