Norma J. Anderson, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 12:12 p.m. at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care. Norma was born March 26, 1950, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Forrest and Myrtle (Chism) Anderson. She received her bachelor’s in education from Eastern Illinois University.

Norma worked in the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State for 37 years. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville, member of and past president… Read More » of the Shelbyville VFW Post 4829 Auxiliary, member of the Shelbyville American Legion Post 81 Auxiliary and a member of the Friends of the Sunken Garden Club. Norma was very community oriented and enjoyed volunteering whether it be helping with the Festival of Lights, Chautauqua building or the gardens.

Norma loved to garden. She is survived by her sister, Merri (Brian) Horn of Arlington, VA; brother, James Anderson of Shelbyville and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Myrtle Anderson and two sisters, Wanda Karnes and Sara Anderson.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shelbyville Area Community Foundation, earmarked for either the Sunken Garden or Save Our Chautauqua Building Fund, P.O. Box 435, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
