Norma Jean Roberts, 74, of Gainesville, passed away Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Amber, OK on June 12, 1944 to Richard and Jessie Stovall. She graduated from Amber High School in 1962 and continued her education at Oklahoma College for Women where she graduated with a degree in Education.

She taught for years at various school with the last 16 years in the Hall County School System teaching at North Hall Middle School and Chestatee Middle School. Jean’s personality lit up any room she walked in. Her smile and laugh were contagious to anyone she came across.

She always had a story to share from her many years in the education system and from her own life experiences, which were numerous as Jean truly lived a full life. Jean loved to spend time with her family any chance she had. Jean was also a faithful member of the Lord’s church, and attended Atlanta Road Church of Christ.

Jean absolutely adored going to IHOP after church on Sunday nights with her dear friends, Mac and Betty Dixon, and her grandchildren. From her cleverly designed nails and her eagerness to make everyone laugh, Jean was an absolutely fantastic woman to so many people. She is preceded in death by her husbands Clyde Tanner and Stephen Roberts, and her son John William Tanner.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jennifer Tanner, Oakwood; her daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie and Matt Hulgan, Roswell; Stephanie and David, Colbert; grandchildren, Jaycob and Jordan Ragland, Lula; Noah Davis, Flowery Branch; Nathan Ragland, Colbert; Jessie Tanner, Oquawka IL; Nathaniel Davis, Chattsworth; Nicolas Tanner, Cumming; Taylor Bentley, Gainesville; Sydney Tanner, Cumming; Caiden Ragland, Colbert; Halle and Hannah Hulgan, Roswell; Jacob Hulgan, Roswell; great grandchildren Nicolas Davis, Anna-Marie McMickle and Roselyn Tanner. Visitation and memorial service will be at Atlanta Road Church of Christ (Gainesville, GA) on July 23rd. Visitation will begin at 2pm, and the memorial service will begin at 3 pm.

Jeremy Houck, Rodney Stephens, and Ted Garner will be officiating the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to either the DAV, Georgia AGAPE or Covenant Care Adoptions.
