Norman E. Porr wanted for a long time to go Home to Heaven. On November 24, 2018, at the age of 85, he finally made it. Born August 14, 1933 in Easton (Doylestown) Ohio to Albert and Anna (Bechtol) Porr, Norm was the youngest of 14 children.

He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Rakkasan, a paratrooper with the 187th Airborne. After discharge, Norm lived most of his years in Perry Heights. He worked as a welder for East Ohio Gas for many years.

He and his first wife, Bonnie, raised four daughters. He married his second wife, Flo, in 1983. Dad used to love to hunt.

He brought home many a squirrel in his day! He also had a great talent for woodworking and for making beautiful wood pieces. He was an excellent cook and taught his daughters the fun of cooking by experimentation.

He loved experimenting with making pies and came up with some delicious ones! He adored his kitties, Boscoe and Pansy. Dad was kind, genuinely grateful, generous, loving, and had a great sense of humor!

Dad Bear, we love you forever. Norm had a long life on this Earth and several loved ones preceded him in their journey Home: his parents, twelve of his siblings, his infant son Tommy, and his wife. Still here cherishing his memory are his four “bear cub” daughters: Becky (Steve) Albert, Judy (Steve) Wright, Terri (Dave) St.Aubin, and Tammy (Bill) Noltemeyer, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his sister Betty Miller.

At Norm’s request, he will be cremated and there will be no services. His family wants to thank Brookdale Senior Living of Canton for the love that they all showed Dad while he lived there, and Crossroads Hospice for the compassionate care that they gave him during his last days. Please visit www.
