OBITUARY Norris J. Drew March 25, 1931 – September 14, 2018 Norris J. Drew, Jr., 87, of Fairhaven passed away September 14, 2018 at Our Lady’s Haven after a battle against cancer. He was the husband of Beverly (Filochowski) Drew for 48 years. Born in New Bedford and the son of the late Norris and Claire (Benjamin) Drew he was a resident of Fairhaven the majority of his life.

He was employed by the Southeastern Regional Transit Authority in New Bedford until his retirement. Since his childhood, he was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a proud member of Fairhaven High School’s Hall of Fame 1949-1950 varsity basketball team that won the New England Class B Championship.

After graduation, he voluntarily enlisted in the United States Marines Corps in defense of our Nation and deployed to Korea as a Forward Air Controller during the Korean War during which he richly chronicled the experience with photos. In 1955, he was honorably discharged from the United State Marine Corps as a Private First Class. Upon his return to Fairhaven, he worked several jobs in the shoe, textile, and construction industries.

He built his family home on West Island with his brothers and friends where he lived for 49 years. On any given day, you would find him passionately discussing, debating, or watching the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Boston Red Sox. Survivors include his wife, Beverly; a son, Lyle Drew, a Colonel in the United States Air Force, of Warner Robins, GA; daughter, Darlene Nadeau, of Fairhaven; a brother, Stephen Drew and his wife Phyllis of Mattapoisett; a sister, Natalie Maloof and her husband Jim of Merrimack, NH; 3 grandchildren, Nathan, Kailee, and Hunter Nadeau; and 6 nieces and 3 nephews.

He was the brother of the late David Drew of Fairhaven. His family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care provided to him by the professional staff at Our Lady’s Haven. Flowers or a donation to the American Cancer Society at main.
