OBITUARY Officer Tyrone DaVince Andrews May 22, 1962 – July 14, 2018 Tyrone DaVince Andrews was born May 22, 1962 to Otis Lee Andrews Sr and Elizabeth Ann Talton Andrews in Marion, La. Tyrone accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized as a member of Marion Baptist Church. Tyrone graduated Marion High School in 1980 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northeast Louisiana University (ULM).
During the summers of his youth, Tyrone worked diligently for his father in the logging industry. After graduating from college in 1987, Tyrone moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue a career in law enforcement. He began his career as a jailer in Dallas County and shortly thereafter joined the Dallas Police Department where he has served for the past 27 years.
Tyrone’s entire law enforcement career was dedicated to helping others. The youth in the community held a special place in his heart. He served as one of the Cub Scout leaders for an inner-city Dallas neighborhood and was a positive male role model.
He also created lifelong friendships with residents in the communities that he served. As a Field Training Officer, he provided leadership and valuable guidance to dozens of rookies over the years. Tyrone also enjoyed serving as a School Rerdzt/ Officer in the Richardson Independent School District.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis Lee Andrews, Sr and Elizabeth Ann Talton Andrews. He leaves to cherish his memory: Sisters Sherrye D. Andrews of Cedar Hill, TX, Sharon Rena Jones of Garland, TX(Paul), and Tamara Dattola of Frisco, TX(Tony). Brothers, Otis Lee Andrews II of San Diego, CA(Chris) and Michael Todd Andrews of Marion, LA.
He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tyrone loved his family. Family gatherings were not complete without him.
He always supported his nieces and nephews’ sports, musical interests, and other extracurricular activities. He was known for his phenomenal memory, sense of humor, and love of music. In the absence of his parents, Tyrone took on the leadership role in the family and was a selfless giver.
Tyrone created several traditions with his nieces and nephews that included trips to Six Flags, the State Fair of TX, Disneyland, Santa Land, and of course IHop and Cracker Barrel.
