Obituary of Olene Kirkman Olene VonCannon Spencer Kirkman, age 92, of Asheboro died Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House. Mrs. Kirkman was born December 18, 1926 in Randolph County to Lola Lee and Nannie Loflin VonCannon. She was a graduate of Seagrove High School and a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting where she taught Sunday school and was a former choir director.

Mrs. Kirkman was owner/operator of Cedar Grove Fabric Shop and sewed for the public. She retired from Rampon Products. Mrs. Kirkman enjoyed vegetable gardening, working in her flower gardens and visiting with her neighbors.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kirkman was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Bascom Spencer, Jr., and Douglas R. Kirkman and son, Ravon Bryce Spencer. She is survived by her son, Carlee Spencer and wife Ellen of Denton; sister, Norma Hoover of Asheboro; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, February 8, 2019 from 6 – 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at her home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Pastor Jon Reece officiating. Burial will be in Back Creek Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family would like to thank nurse Tyler and all the staff at Clapp’s Nursing Home and Hospice of Randolph County for the care given to Mrs. Kirkman.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Back Creek Friends Meeting Cemetery Fund, 139 Back Creek Church Rd. , Asheboro, NC 27205 or Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009, www. hospiceofrandolph.org.
