Obituary for Olive Jenice Pearson FORT WORTH – Olive Pearson, 97, passed peacefully to her reward on Sunday, June 24, 2018. Olive Jenice Holcombe was born Jan. 31, 1921, to Elisha Walter Holcombe and Mary Lorraine Sapp in Marysville, Cooke county, Texas.

Her family soon moved to west Texas where she was raised in Howard and Glasscock counties. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1938 and immediately began to work in an abstract office. She held many jobs over her lifetime and whatever job she held, she gave it her best.

During WWII she worked for about a week on the line at “the bomber plant” as a “Rosie the Riveter”. When they learned she had secretarial experience they transferred her to personnel. Later she worked at Carswell AFB, then spent the majority of her career with the US Army Corps of Engineers as a budget analyst.

Upon retirement, she had almost 40 years of Civil Service. She received the Distinguished Civilian Employee Award and her picture hangs in Corps gallery. Olive loved her Lord and her church and gave many years of faithful service to University Baptist Church.

Her faith was a loving example to her family and friends. She also loved working in her retirement years. She volunteered for a time with United Way, Harris Hospital, Meals on Wheels, church and her beloved lineage societies.

She was a proud member of DRT, DAR, UDC, and USD of 1812 and served in many offices, with treasurer being her favorite. She was proud to be a “Real Granddaughter” of a Civil War Veteran and proud of her Sapp family who came to the Republic of Texas in 1839. Working with her daughter on genealogy gave her great pleasure.

She held memberships in FW Genealogical Society, Clan MacNicol, NARFE, RHANA and loved her Corps of Engineers Retiree lunches. She loved travel in retirement to visit family and friends. She and her husband, Hugh traveled the US for his Army reunions and his 1918 Birthday conventions.

After his death she still traveled with her daughters, her sister, and her sister-in- law going on cruises and seeing Niagara Falls, Alaska, the Holy Land, and the Panama Canal. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Hugh; brothers, Hugh, Price, Horace and Kenneth; and sister, Thelma. Survivors: Daughters, Debra and Shari; brother, Wayne Holcombe (Olga) of California; sister-in-law, Dorothy Stanfield of Mesquite; beloved nieces, nephews and seven first cousins.
