OLIVIA MCFALLS WATSON Olivia McFalls Watson was born January 21, 1955 in a brick house in Oak Grove, Arkansas to Theodore R. and Wyola Simpson McFalls. Olivia entered eternal rest early Saturday morning, March 9, 2019. She was preceded in death by both parents, a sister Bonnie S. Barnett and a brother Billie C. McFalls, who was killed in the Vietnam War.

Olivia was bussed, along with all the black children in Sevier County, Arkansas to Lockesburg Training School. Following desegregation in Arkansas, she was able to graduate from the integrated Lockesburg High School in 1971. in 1975 she earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), and later a master’s degree in Accounting from Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Olivia joined New Zion Baptist Church in Oak Grove, Arkansas at a young age. After moving to Kansas City, she joined St. James United Methodist Church, and was active on the Finance Committee and as a Congregational Care Steward. Olivia traveled and lived for a time in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, Port Orange, Florida, and Gaithersburg, Maryland with her former husband.

She is the mother of three daughters, Cara Thompson, Christyn Watson, and Carmen Watson, and the proud grandmother of two grandchildren, Najah Thompson and (little) DJ Thompson, both of whom affectionately called her “Boo Boo”. After becoming a single mother, Olivia embraced the gift and responsibilities at being “mother” to her three children and for providing the very best care she could for them. Olivia was employed with Sears in Kansas City, Missouri, Allstate Insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Swope Community Builders.

She was employed for the past 12 years by the United States Internal Revenue Service in the Agriculture Division. Olivia found joy in watching movies at home, solving crossword puzzles and spending time with family. In addition to her daughters and grandchildren, Olivia is survived by a sister, Carolyn McFalls Reynolds (Benjamin), Little Rock; and two brothers, Oliver B. McFalls (Funzia), Fayetteville, AR and Steve D. McFalls (Louise), Foreman, AR, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday March 14, 2019 at St. James UMC 5540 Wayne Kansas City Mo. Visitation 9:00 A.M. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery.
