Opal Hollifield, 83, passed away July 14, 2018 in Lufkin, Texas. She was born on February 2, 1935 to parents Richard and Mattie (Warren) Potts in Castor, Louisiana. Opal was a caring and fun loving person that enjoyed making others smile.

She was an Activities Director for many years at a nursing home where she enjoyed fixing the resident’s hair and taking care of them as much as she could. Opal often dressed up as a clown and as Santa Claus and had fun entertaining people in costumes. … Read More » She treasured the time traveling back to Louisiana to spend time with her family, and she also enjoyed stopping at the casinos while in Lousiana as well.

Opal’s smile and personality will be remembered by the many live’s she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Ray Jenkins; step-daughter, Sharla Hollifield Evans; previous husband, Leonard B. Morton; brother, Daniel Potts; sisters, Pat Quzts, Minnie Harlan, and Vernice Falgout. Opal is survived by her husband, John Hollifield; son, Dean Jenkins; step-son, Steve Hollifield and fiancé Marie; sister, Jannette Sullivan; grandchildren, Bart Jenkins and wife Kym, Holly Overholser and husband Brian; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation after 10:00 a.m., with funeral services to begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 in the chapel of Carter-Conley Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown, Texas under the direction of Carter-Conley Funeral Home.
