Orin’s Obituary Orin R Wiederhoeft, age 95 died on Thursday February 7, 2019 at the Mapleton Community Home. Funeral service will be held March 8th at 11:00 am at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Amboy. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church.

Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Amboy. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Orin was born on December 17, 1923 in Pleasant Mound Township, rural Amboy to Wilhelm and Frieda (Schwarz) Wiederhoeft.

He served in the US Army from 1945-1946 and was stationed in Osaka Japan. On December 29, 1944 he married Dorothy Ziemke in St Peter’s Lutheran Church Vernon Center. Orin was a member of the American Legion Post 276 for over 70 years and served on the honor guard.

He worked various jobs but was a longtime bulk truck driver for Blue Earth County Service Company in Amboy. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was thrilled to travel on the Honor Flight to Washington DC.

Orin loved to fish and took every opportunity he could to do so. Orin and Dorothy always had the coffee pot on ready for any visitors. Orin is survived by his children, Lola (Lynn) Owen of Atwater, Linda (Charles) Cone of Waseca, and Carol (Mike) Bertrand of St Peter; grandchildren, Keith Owen, David Cone, Sheila Root, Andrea Kuhns, Brooke Olson, Jessica Holtz, and Alex Bertrand; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by this parents; wife, Dorothy; brothers, Albert, Kasper, Burton, Billy, Leo and Kermit; sisters, Anita Pearce, Irene Block, Lasca Flitter, and Lucy Apitz.
