Pastor Andy Lindgren, age 88, of Cass Lake, Minnesota went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 1st, 2018 from the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was the only child of Edgar and Esther Morrison and was born on August 20, 1930 in Shevlin, MN. Andy grew up and attended school in the Battle Lake Area.

After graduating from high school he went to college for business. Andy came to know the Lord as a young adult through the witness of a farmer he worked for. He invited him to hear a missionary to the Jews and mentioned to him how they needed to know Christ as their Savior and Lord.

Andy soon realized what he needed was the Lord. He said that he knew the Lord had met his needs when he noticed that the lights were brighter and the grass was greener. Andy served on various boards and committees, sending missionaries out into the fields.

He realized that the Lord was calling him to full time ministry. After completing pastoral training, Andy became the Assistant Superintendent to Gary Danielson at the Fargo Union Mission in 1961. In 1962 he met Elsie Olson and they were married on July 6, 1963.

Andy later became the Director of Rescue Mission in Utica, New York and Hamilton, Ontario. He and Elsie served in many Christian schools and camping ministries. They also served as missionaries on the Red Lake, White Earth and Leech Lake Reservation, where they have ministered for the past 20 years.

Andy had many hobbies but his favorite were hunting and fishing at Lake of the Woods. He and Elsie traveled often to visit their children but one of his most memorable trips was to the Holy Land of Israel where he was baptized in the Jordan River and waded in the Dead Sea. Andy was quite the handyman, in fact was often called “Handy Andy”, because always had a toolbox in his truck and fixed the little odds and ends for people they visited.

Andy helped everyone who needed it and was more than happy to do it. Family that Andy has been reunited with are his parents; Edgar and Esther Morrison, his adopted father; Waldemar Lindgren and brother in law David Ramsey. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Elsie Lindgren of Cass Lake, his son; Nathan Lindgren of Mesa, CO, daughter; Rachel (Mark) Malo of Bentonville, AR, grandchildren; Michael and Jordan Malo, sister in law; Janice Ramsey and cousins; Ardis and Betty Thompson.

Funeral services for Pastor Andy will begin at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at the Alliance Church in Cass Lake, MN. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. also to be held at the church. Pastors Mick Marino, Gary Russell and Bishop Dean Clough will officiate.

Pallbearers are Mike Ramsey, Jon Ramsey, Tim Ramsey, Lenny Fineday, David Fineday and Dan Oothoudt. His honorary pallbearers are Rachel Malo, Nathan Lindgren, Mark Malo, Michael Malo and Jordan Malo. Interment will be in the Bethania Lutheran Cemetery at Newfolden, MN on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Andy’s care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN.
