OBITUARY Patricia A. Doyle December 23, 1932 – November 22, 2018 Dennisport – Our dear Pat passed away …. following a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late George H. and Marguerite (Lynch) Andrew, sister of the late Jeff Andrew and beloved wife of the late John M. “Jack” Doyle.
Born in Westfield, NJ, her family later moved to Larchmont, NY and then White Plains, NY, where Pat graduated from New Rochelle High School. She went on to college at what was then called Green Mountain Jr. College in VT and then continued with nursing studies at Mass Memorial in Boston, MA. In 1965, Pat and Jack made their home in Glen Rock, NJ.
It was at nearby Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ where she would spend her nursing career as an RN. In addition, she spent several years as a proud member of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps. While in Glen Rock, she was also involved in, among other things, Cub Scouts, the Central School PTA, Twiggy League, was an Election Day volunteer and happy supporter of GRHS Class of 83’s homecoming float shenanigans.
Pat was always taking care of someone or something. After retiring to Cape Cod in 1987, she took up gardening, golfing and travel with Jack, and also enjoyed many years with the gals of her walking group, the West Dennis Garden Club (past President) and as a volunteer at the West Dennis Public Library. First and foremost, Pat took care of her own.
She will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by her sons, John M. “Mick” Doyle of Dennisport, MA, Scott and his wife Janice (Muller) of Pittstown, NJ, and her daughter, Amy MacEachern and her husband Don of Marstons Mills, MA. She adored and is also survived by her dear grandchildren, Jennifer Doyle of Portland, ME, Julie Doyle of New York City and Ean MacPherson of South Dennis, MA, each of whom she happily helped put through college. In her last few years, the light of her life was her great granddaughter, Maddie MacPherson of South Dennis.
Service details at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be announced. As she was an avid reader and animal lover, in lieu of flowers, Pat’s memory would be better served with donations to the West Dennis Public Library, 260 Route 28, West Dennis, MA 02670 or the MSPCA Cape Cod, 1577 Falmouth Rd. , Centerville, MA 02632.
Lastly, our family sends tremendous, heartfelt thanks to everyone at Mayflower Place Nursing & Rehab in South Yarmouth and Hope Health of Hyannis, for the professional, compassionate care Pat received over the past few months. All of the nurses, aides, dining room staff and volunteers where simply wonderful. To know she was in such great hands meant the world to us and your help, understanding and kindness meant more than words can ever say – God Bless each and every one of you.
