Patricia A. Holyfield East Lyme – Patricia A. Holyfield, 64, of East Lyme, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2019 surrounded by her family and friends. Pat fought a courageous battle with cancer for a year. Born October 4, 1954 in Norristown, PA, the daughter of the late Frank A. Kotch and Margaret B. Kotch and she grew up in Collegeville, PA.

She graduated Bishop Kenrick High School, Norristown, PA in 1972. Following her marriage to Charles L. Holyfield in 1973, she moved to Connecticut and settled in Vernon CT, where the couple resided until moving to East Lyme, CT in 1996. Pat worked largely in retail sales at various businesses and most recently was enjoying retirement.

She was an Emergency Medical Technician with the Flanders Fire Department and served as Secretary for the CT Critical Incident Stress Management Team. She enjoyed the field of emergency medicine and assisted her beloved husband Chuck with instructing new EMT’s at their classes held at Connecticut College. Pat is survived by her husband of 45 years, Charles L. Holyfield of East Lyme; her son, Stephen C. Holyfield and his wife Heidi, of Gales Ferry, CT; her grandchildren, Garrett and Olivia Holyfield, of Gales Ferry, CT.

She also is survived by her brothers, Frank A. Kotch III, of Audubon, PA and Stephen Kotch (Kathie) of Collegeville, PA; her sister Christine Diegel (Robert) of Limerick, PA,; her nieces Jennifer Snyder and Stephanie Diegel, and her nephews Shaun and Kevin Gallagher. Pat was predeceased by her sister-in-law Beth Kulla Kotch. The family would like to thank the Smilow Cancer Center of Waterford for their compassionate and expert care.

Patricia was most recently celebrated by the staff as a ‘’100 hour’’ patient following her extensive treatments at the facility. The family will receive guests at the Thomas L Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic CT on Wednesday January 23, 2019 from 5-8pm. The funeral will be held at the Flanders Baptist Church, 162 Boston Post Road, East Lyme CT, on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 10:30am and a reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to the Smilow Cancer Center of Waterford CT or the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main Street, Old Saybrook, CT 06475. Condolences may be shared on Pat’s memorial page at www. neilanfuneralhome.com.
