Obituary of Patricia Varno Niskayuna – Patricia A. Varno, 84, died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Ellis Hospital. Pat was born in Schenectady, on January 22, 1934, the daughter of Frank and Josephine Mazeleski. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Childs Hospital School of Nursing.

For many years she worked at St. Clare’s Hospital and Silver Haven Nursing Home, as a nurse and had also worked as a private duty nurse. She was a communicant of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church (Union St). She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Pat is survived by her devoted husband of 61years, Thomas Varno, Retired Fire Chief of the Schenectady Fire Department; they married on October 6, 1956. She is also survived by three children; Edward (Ileen), Mark (Patty) and Elizabeth (Jeffrey); one sister Ellen (Robert) Galka; proud grandmother of Thomas,Robert, Rachel, Katelyn, Edward and Tricia Varno and Francesca, Frank and Chris Futia; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Gabriel and nieces and nephews. Funeral service Wednesday morning 10:15 from Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 11:00 at St .

Kateri Tekawitha Church (Union St.), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her Brother in law, Fr. Jack Varno. Calling hours Tuesday evening 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady Firefighters Cancer Fund, 11242 Fourth Ave,. Schenectady, NY 12303.
