Patsy Darlene (Trenton) Smith, 83 of Arkansas City, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Life Care Center of Andover, Kansas. Graveside Inurnment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. A memorial has been established in her name with the American Cancer Society.

Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Patsy was born on June 4, 1935 in Anthony, Kansas, the beautiful daughter of Gayle Howard and Leola Stella (Walker) Trenton. She attended grade school in Hawley, OK and later graduated from East High School in Wichita, KS.

After high school, she married Royce Bland on November 13, 1954. The couple had two boys, Mark and Larry. They later divorced in 1963.

In 1964, she married Oliver Smith and the couple added two girls, Patricia and Teresa to the family. The couple made their home in Fairfax, OK where they raised their kids. Patsy worked in retail sales at TG&Y, Gibson’s, Woolworth and Wal-Mart, from 1971 to 1988.

She then worked for a time as an activity’s director at several nursing homes. She moved to Arkansas City in 2007 to be closer to family. Patsy enjoyed crocheting, country music and dancing.

She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Her family includes her children; Larry Dean Bland; Mark Alan Bland and wife Lori; Patricia Ann Feathers and Teresa Ann Smith, Jacob McCutcheon and Kevin Burr; her 6 grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oliver and two siblings, Gayle and Ruth.
