Trudy Williams, 89, resident of Winfield, Kansas for 65 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in Topeka, Kansas where she had moved to be near her daughter, Mylinda. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, March 23 at the Shelley Funeral Home – 803 Loomis St. Winfield, Kansas 67156. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 12-2 P.M. on Saturday, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home. Trudy was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 19, 1929 the daughter of Gertrude and Luther Collins.

She grew up in Ellinwood, Kansas where she married Earl Williams on May 24, 1948. Trudy and Earl moved to Winfield in 1950 where they lived and raised their four children: Mylinda, James, David, and Nancy. After the death of her daughter Nancy, at age 6, Trudy was inspired to go back to school and become a nurse.

After graduating from nursing school, Trudy had a successful career as a nurse at the Winfield Hospital where she was known for her hard work ethic, compassion and sense of humor. Trudy enjoyed painting landscapes of Kansas scenery and also applied her artistic talents to her quilting. She was very generous with her quilts, sharing them with family and friends, who cherish them as family heirlooms.

Trudy is survived by her daughter Mylinda Coon and husband Jim of Topeka; and her son Jim and wife Pat of Idaho. She was so proud of her grandchildren: Lori Gillogily and husband Mike, Kimberly Huber and husband Don, Brian Pagan, Zachary Williams and wife Kelly, and her great-grandchildren: Megan, Erin, Donny and Kinsey. She is survived by sisters, Pat Moyer, of New Mexico and Margaret Collins of Hutchinson, Kansas Trudy was preceded in death by her husband Earl, son David, and daughter Nancy.
