Obituary for Paul Finis Watkins Paul Finis “Watermelon” Watkins, 68, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was born on November 16, 1949 to John Finis Watkins and Betty Marie (Grounds) Watkins in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Paul grew up in Midland Valley and was part of the class of 1968 at Muskogee Central High School.

Paul served in the United States Army as a pointman mine sweeper in the Americal Division in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. He received an honorable discharge along with a Purple Heart Medal. He was a carpet installer for many years and owned his own company, Finis Floor Fashion, until his retirement in 2003.

Paul was very active in chicken fighting for many years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. He was everybody’s favorite and he will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and infant twin sister, Peggy Lee Watkins. He is survived by his children, Jeannette Haak of Tahlequah, OK, Jennifer Kizzia and husband Brian of Fort Gibson, OK; grandchildren, Amy and Cassie Haak of Tahlequah, OK, Tyler McClure and Olive Kizzia of Fort Gibson, OK; siblings, Betty Sue Gann and husband Bobby, Darlene Crosby and Charles Watkins; and many other family members and friends. Paul’s family will receive friends and family 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Dover officiating. Escorted by the Freedom Riders to the interment at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Charles Watkins, Tyler McClure, Brian Long, Scott Crosby, Walter Kirk and Pete Eckhardt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Baker, Theral Jones, Glen Dever, Bobby Melton, Darrell Elliott, Darrell Bolin, Darrell Gilbert, Coky Weaver, Bobby Gann and Brian Kizzia.
