VERONA-Pearl Elver, loving mother and friend, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Pearl was born to Adolph and Frieda (Wittwer) Schmid on April 1, 1925. She graduated from Verona High School, where she was class valedictorian, an honor student and cheerleader.

Pearl worked at Ray-O-Vac Corporation prior to meeting her husband, Richard. Together they raised their family in Viroqua and then returned to Richard’s hometown of Middleton. Pearl was… Read More » a warm hostess, avid bridge player and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Roger (Rita) and Jeff (Mary Lynn); and sisters-in-law, Justine, Gladys, Delores and Merlyn. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Brett, Nicole (David), Rick and Mallory; and great-grandchildren, Simon, Natalie, Ty and Brady; and she will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and many friends. Pearl was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; brothers, Bob, Ray, Art and Howard; and sister, Evelyn.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Avenue in Middleton at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018, with the Rev. David Brynelson presiding. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be gifted in Pearl’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, South Central WI Chapter.
