Pekin: Peggy Wilson, 88, formerly of Roxana and Rosewood Heights, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Morningside of Pekin. She was born on August 17, 1929, in Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Eugene and Thelma (Hawk) Malone. She married Charles Joe Wilson on September 4, 1948, in Jackson, Tennessee, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2015.

Survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Trina and Andy Sparks of Pekin, Illinois,… Read More » Melanie and Jim Watkins of Ebony, Virginia, four grandchildren and their spouses: Ben and Samantha Sparks of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Abigail Sparks of Pekin, Illinois, Alexandra Watkins and her fiancé: Tyler Kloc of Winston – Salem, North Carolina, Tony and Jennifer Watkins of Arkansas City, Kansas, five great – grandchildren, two brothers and a sister in law: Bill Malone of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jerry and Jan Malone of Edwardsville, a brother in law; Bob Barbolini of Chicago, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Peggy was formerly employed as a secretary at Olin Brass. She then worked as a secretary at Roxana Junior High School.

Following her retirement, Peggy and Joe moved to Winter Haven, Florida where they enjoyed playing golf and attending Calvary Baptist Church prior to returning to Rosewood Heights in 1997. She moved to Pekin, Illinois in December of 2015 She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Roxana. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Bobby Malone, Samuel Malone, and one sister: Betty Barbolini.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 12pm until time of funeral services at 1pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Tim Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

The family would like to thank the staff of Morningside of Pekin for their wonderful care and compassion. Memorials are suggested to 1st Baptist Church of Roxana or to Gideons International.
