Philip Settle Englehardt, 87, of Naples, FL, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Formerly of Vero Beach, FL, he had been a Naples resident since 2015. He was born September 24, 1931 in Springfield, MA, the son of Arminius John and Marian Frida (née Settle) Englehardt.

Philip was an avid sportsman all his life, fishing, playing softball and bowling. He joined the US Navy when he was eighteen and served on the USS Pawcatuck AO-108 during the Korean War. The Norfolk Navy Tars football team loved him because no one could out run him.

He was a great animal lover and a consummate practical joker. Mr. Englehardt is survived by his loving wife, Maxine E. Batrawi; his beloved daughters, Debbie (Joseph) Chabot of Naples, FL and Elinor (Peter) Leal of Cape Coral, FL; two cherished grandchildren, Philip and Natalia Leal; and one treasured great grandson, Kai Philip Bartolo-Leal. He was preceded in death by his son, Philip S. Englehardt Jr. in 1973.

Private services and burial will take place at the Sarasota national Cemetery in Sarasota, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Naples, www. hsnaples.org.
