Phillip A. Janik, Sr., 79, of La Porte, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at La Porte Hospital. Phillip was born on October 7, 1939 in East Chicago, IN, to Michael and Mary (Yameroz) Janik. On September 16, 1957, he married Wilma Dian Cooper who preceded him in death in 2016.

Surviving are his beloved children, Debbie (Jay) Jalovecky of Kingsford Heights, Phil (Carol) Janik, Jr. of La Porte, Edward (Laura) Janik of La Porte, and Sandra (Suzi) Janik of Mt. Dora, FL; 9 grandchildren; 7. 5 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, wife, and siblings. Phillip was a Line Operator for over 30 years at Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed fishing, food, flowers, feeding birds, the NRA, family reunions, and old cars.

A Celebration of Life Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Pastor Ben Crosstreet will be officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.

A time of visitation will be held from 5 – 7 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10 am until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 55 E Monroe Street, Suite 3420, Chicago, IL 60603. Condolences may be shared with the family on www.
