Obituary for Phillip “Hoop” Mays Phillip “Hoop” Mays, age 63, of Henderson, KY, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his home. Phillip was a graduate of Henderson City High School. He worked as a line supervisor at Accuride Corporation for over 10 years.

Phillip was a youth baseball coach for many years. He enjoyed turkey and deer hunting. He was an avid fisherman and loved taking his grandchildren to Diamond Lake.

He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals, U.K. Wildcats, and Chicago Bears fan. Some of his best memories were training thoroughbred horses. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Fannie Mays, his daughter Tara Mays, his son Mitchell Mays, and his brother Johnny Mays.

Survived by his wife of 40 years Sharon Mays of Henderson, KY, two sons; Zach Mays and his wife Summer of Newburgh, IN, Drew Mays and his wife Melanie of Henderson, KY, three sisters; Dora Caton of Nashville, TN, Nancy Morgan of Henderson, KY, Betty Mattingly of Corydon, KY and one brother Roy Mays of Henderson, KY, six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Phillip’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019 and again from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday with Brother Rick O’ Daniel officiating.
