Phillip’s Obituary Phillip Brown A Memorial Service for Phillip Ray Brown, 90, is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Wewoka First Assembly of God Church, 1301 S. Mekusukey Ave. , Wewoka, OK. Phil’s dear friend and retired pastor, Perry Justus will officiate.

Phillip Ray Brown went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the VA Center in Sulphur, OK. Phil was born in Tupelo, OK, to Roy Lee and Gladys Blackburn Brown. Phil went to school in Tupelo, Ada and Ahloso.

Phil was a World War II veteran serving in the Army as a Drill Instructor and Medic. After the war, Phil moved to Ada where he met and married Joyce Hodges. He worked for Southern Ice, Gunter Plumbing and Blue Bell during that time.

For the last 55 years, Phil resided in Wewoka, OK where he worked at Lillian Russell Clothing Manufacturing and as manager of the Gil Morgan Golf Course. Phil loved dogs and the outdoors; fishing and golf being his two favorite pastimes. Phil was very proud to be from Oklahoma and was a diehard OU Football fan, never missing a game.

Phil leaves behind his son, Ronnie Brown and wife Jill, of Ada, OK; daughter, Phyllis and husband Larry Hocker of Overland Park, KS; and daughter, Linda and husband Doug Ronck of Yukon, OK. Phil’s grandchildren are Russell and Rachel Brown of Ada; Tonya Suschnick and husband Todd and their sons Caleb and Cody of Liberal, MO; Luke Hocker and daughter, Bella of Overland Park, KS; and Jaiden Epperson of Yukon, OK. Phil also leaves behind his special fiend, Linda Hoover of Wewoka, OK.

Phil was preceded in death by his favorite people, his grandparents, Dr. James Henry Blackburn (Papa) and Marlin Blackburn (Mama), parents, Roy Lee and Gladys Brown and his brother, Roy Gene Brown. I am dreaming tonight of an old Southern town And the best friend that I ever had For I’ve grown so weary of roaming around I’m going back home to my Dad.
