Obituary Service Details Turners Falls- Phyllis (Stevens) Whiteman, 82, of Turnpike Road died Sunday 1/14/18 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rumford, ME on June 10, 1935, the daughter of Joseph A. and Eula (Hall) Stevens. Phyllis attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1953.

Phyllis worked all her life retiring from the manufacturing department at Bete Fog & Nozzle Company after thirteen years. Phyllis had a heart of Gold and was a mother to everyone. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren.

Phyllis enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and was famous for her homemade lasagna, baked beans and glumpkie. Among her survivors, Phyllis leaves two daughters, Colleen Worden and her husband Kevin of Colrain and Karen Mills and her husband Kerry of Turners Falls; two sons, James Whiteman Jr. of Erving and Steven Whiteman and his wife Carrie of Northfield; five grandsons, Kevin Worden II, Tyler Worden, Connor Kelley, Brandon Mills and Mason Whiteman; three granddaughters, Emily Mills, Lindsay Whiteman and MacKenna Whiteman; five brothers, Joseph Stevens of Winchester, NH, Guy Stevens and his wife Margaret, Phillip Stevens, Albert Stevens and his wife Roxanne and Alfred Stevens and his wife Adelle, all of Greenfield; two sisters, Beverly Parent and her husband Ernest of Brattleboro, VT and Sally LaBier of Greenfield; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, James Whiteman Sr. on May 28, 2005, three sisters, Margaret, Pauline and Alberta and three brothers, John, Arthur and Richard.

Turners Falls. Burial will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 10 am in Springdale Cemetery in Turners Falls. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colrain Firefighters Association or to the Colrain Volunteer Ambulance Association, 51 Main Road, Colrain, Ma, 01340.
