Homer Cornelius Furlow, Jr., age 74, entered the presence of his Beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA surrounded by family. He was born in Hogansville, GA on March 22, 1945 to the late Homer Cornelius Furlow, Sr. and Hattie Winkles Furlow. Junior, as he was affectionately known by friends and family, is survived by his wife, Millie Furlow; children, Chris Furlow and his wife Brandee, Kim Arrington and her husband Johnny; grandchildren, Kacie Groder, Chase Furlow, Lizzie Cheek and her husband Adam, Abby Arrington, Emmie Arrington, Caroline Furlow, Olivia Furlow and Grant Furlow.

He is also survived by his brother Lamar Furlow and his four-legged buddy Sid. Junior served his nation proudly in Viet Nam, during the TET offensive and received two purple hearts. He also served during Operation Desert Storm.

Junior retired from the National Guard with combined 24 years of service. Junior retired from James Rivers in 2002 with 32 years of service. Junior was an avid camper, fisherman, and he didn’t know a stranger.

The funeral service is Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan with Minister Steven Craven officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 22nd from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McKoon Funeral Home.
