Ralph Lee Chitwood, Sr. 75, of Irwin county passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 18th, at 2:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Jack Perrin and Bro.

Ashley Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 17th, 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.at the funeral home.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. He was born October 31, 1942 in Ben Hill county to the late John Robert Chitwood and Winnie Estelle Barnwell Chitwood. He was married to the late Johnnie Faye Schofill Chitwood for fifty- two years before she died on March 27, 2015.

He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Hoyt Chitwood, and Charlie Chitwood. Mr. Chitwood retired after thirty-eight years from Fitzgerald Underwear and then worked many years at Orgill. He was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He centered his life around his whole family, but his grandchildren were very special to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and gardening. He is survived by his four sons and three daughters-in-law; Lee and Amy Chitwood, John Robert “Bob” Chitwood, Michael and Sharmila Chitwood and Shane and Susie Chitwood all of Tifton, grandchildren Brandon Chitwood, Austin Chitwood, Drew Chitwood, Blake Chitwood, Ryan Chitwood, Amber Chitwood, Kyle Chitwood, Ashley Ball, Isabella Waddell, Megan Scarbor, and Mallory Waddell, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Ruth Henderson of Irwinville, Evelyn Manix of Valparaiso, FL, Ethel and L. T. Mills of Fitzgerald, and Kathryn and Wayne Davis of Wellford S. C., along with his special friend Virginia Burgess.
