Ralph R. McIntyre, 84, of Florence, passed from this life to eternal comfort and peace with Christ, surrounded by his family, on Sunday morning November 11, 2018. He was a member of Magnolia Church of Christ. Mr. McIntyre was born on August 15, 1934 in Florence, AL.

He was a graduate of Coffee High School, Florence State College, and was a United States Army Veteran. Ralph first met his loving and devoted wife of 59 years while a student at Coffee High School. Shortly after their marriage in 1959 he began his long career as an accountant at TVA.

In school and for many years after, he excelled at sports and was an award winning basketball, football, and tennis player. A naturally skilled carpenter, he became an accomplished wood worker in his later years creating many beautiful objects for friends and family. He was an avid fisherman and loved traveling.

Being on the water or on the road brought him tremendous joy. Of all of his achievements, his greatest was that of being a husband and father. His sense of humor, wisdom, and gentle nature has been cherished by all who knew him.

Mr. McIntyre was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Smith McIntyre and Bessie Olive McIntyre; brother, Jack Howard McIntyre; sisters, Helen McIntyre Howard Pollard, and Joyce Ann McIntyre Dobbs. He is survived by his wife, Janet Delano McIntyre; daughter, Holly McIntyre Saint (Don); son, Drew Ralph McIntyre (Vanessa); grandchildren, Matti Grace McIntyre, and Tanner Hall McIntyre; eight nieces, and four nephews. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 pm.

at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Bryan McIntyre and Joe Van Dyke officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dawn Howell, Sabrina Wright, Amanda Helton, and Lauren Wright for their knowledgeable and devoted daily in-home care, Dr. Danny McFall, and all staff of Kindred Hospice for their provision of compassionate medical, emotional, and spiritual support to all of the family and caregivers during this final transition of life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
