William Raymond (Ray) Loman was born April 14, 1935 and passed away April 13, 2018 just one day shy of his 83rd birthday. He was born in Indianapolis on the west side in an area known as “The Valley”. His parents were Mary and Clarence Loman.

In 1954 at 19 years old, he married Mildred Hollingsworth and they had one child, David Bruce Loman in 1957. During the next 18 years, Ray worked as a salesman at Hubbell Metals and then at Steel Sales both in Indianapolis. In 1975 Ray married… Read More » Janet Sue Chrisman of Indianapolis.

In 1978 Ray purchased Harry C’s Bar at Carson and Thompson Road. Ray loved to cook and enjoyed being around people so the new bar venture was an immediate success. He made many close friends through his years at Harry C’s.

He also opened a Harry C’s East at 21st and Mitthoeffer and a Harry C’s South in Greenwood. He sold Harry C’s in 1992 and started an expedited delivery business called PDQ Express that he owned until his death. Ray was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.

Over the years, he fished with several Indianapolis bass clubs as well as being on the Skeeter Boats state bass team fishing tournaments all over the country. He traveled as far as Mexico to bass fish but loved catching the big bass in Florida. The last 23 years he and Jan lived on a 35-acre lake at Crystal Bay in Plainfield.

Most every day, Ray could be found fishing on his boat or off the dock. His wife, Jan Loman, his son, David Loman, daughter-in-law Bernice Loman, survives Ray as well as his dearly loved dog, Bianca. Instead of flowers or cards, Ray would have appreciated a donation of food or money to a local animal shelter of your choice.

On Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 6:00PM, a celebration of Ray’s life, “A Toast To Ray” will be held at Harry C’s bar at 5055 S. Dearborn Ave. Please plan to attend and join us in remembering a great man, a good friend, loving husband and a wonderful father.
