Benjamin Andrew Harmon, 20, Avon, passed away July 6, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family. Ben courageously and optimistically battled Ewing’s Sarcoma for two years. Ben was born August 15, 1997, in Indianapolis.

Ben was a graduate of Avon High School in 2016, where he excelled not only as a student, but also as an athlete. He graduated 17th in his class of almost 700 students and was proud to continue his studies at Purdue University, where he was majoring in engineering. … Read More » During his brief time at Purdue, Ben was the president of his Sigma Chi Fraternity pledge class.

A strong Christian, Ben was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church and was also active in the church’s Pier Youth Group and Perfect Fit Ministry. Ben touched many lives during his brief time on Earth, and he will be fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends. Survivors include his father and step-mother, William and Kimberly Harmon of Plainfield; mother, Marcia Harmon of Avon; siblings, Will, Julia, Caleb, and Seth; paternal grandparents, Vickie and Greg Davis of Mooresville; maternal grandparents, Roger and Evelyn Beard of Mooresville; aunts and uncles, Mike (Robin) Beard, Bob Beard & Jamie Mikesell, Tonya Deckard-Beard; Tammy (Dave) Whitley, and Nick Davis; a host of cousins.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Ben Harmon on Thursday, July 12, 2018, 3 to 7 p.m., in the Plainfield Christian Church. The funeral service will be held at the church at 10 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2018. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
