Obituary for Raymond “Ray” Harold Griffith GREENFIELD – Raymond “Ray” Harold Griffith, age 77, of Greenfield, passed away April 14, 2018 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1940 in Greenfield as the son of Theron and Dorothy (Marshall) Griffith. He served in the Army during Vietnam and the Berlin Conflict from 1958 to 1963.

He married Roberta Rae (Bradshaw) Griffith on March 9, 1963 in Manhattan, KS. He worked for Allison’s Transmissions for 31 years before retiring in 2004. Ray was a member of the Shirley Masonic Lodge #531, the Greenfield VFW for 50 years, and the Murat Shrine where he served as past president of the reception unit.

He was a family man who loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. Ray is survived by his wife, Roberta Griffith; daughters, Shannon Griffith and Pamela (Gary) Hartman; son, Raymond Griffith II; brothers, Steven, Timothy, and Dennis Griffith; grandchildren, Michael Griffith (Miranda and Grayson), Kayleigh (Eric) Graul, Gary (Lindsay) Hartman, and Samantha Griffith; and great-grandson, Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theron and Dorothy Griffith; brothers, John, Theron, David, and Robert Griffith; and sisters, Anita Copeland & Karen (Sue) Gibson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A masonic service will follow visitation, beginning at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. also at the mortuary.

Chad Frank will be officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Greenfield with full military honors presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation, Hospice, 801 N. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or the Hancock County Humane Society, 214 E. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
