Obituary of Rella Ward Rella Ward, age 90, of Gloversville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 25, 2019 at her home. She was born July 6, 1928 in California, the daughter of the late Morgan and Dorothy Ashton VanSkiver. Many years ago she worked as a waitress at Avery’s Hotel in Arietta and later at Auriesville Shrine.

She enjoyed spending time with her family at their camp at Caroga Lake. Rella is survived by her son, David R. Ward (Jeanette) of Gloversville; two sisters, Rebecca Voght (George) of Broadalbin and Alma Avery of Johnstown; two grandchildren, David Ward Jr. (Ashley) and Robert Ward, and a great-granddaughter, Jayden Ward, all of Gloversville, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Robert J. Ward; and her brother, Frank VanSkiver.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10a.m. to 12p.m. Friday, March 1 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will follow at 12p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Fulton County Office for the Aging, 19 North William St; Johnstown, NY 12095.
