Obituary of Richard Louer Jr Mr. Richard D. Louer Jr. , of Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam with his family at his side. Born in Amsterdam on March 31, 1937, the son of the late Richard and Mildred Louer Sr

He was a lifelong area resident and was a 1955 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Richard, for most of his career was a Carpet Designer for the former Mohasco Corportation in Amsterdam until the business closed. Richard was an avid Stock Car Racing Fan and enjoyed spending time at the Fonda Speedway over the years.

He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. Richard married Joyce E. Dufel on May 4, 1963.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Brian (Suzanne) Louer of Broadalbin. Grandchildren, Amanda Pawlowski (Ryan Downey) of Albany, Aaron Suelter of Key West, FL and Alec Suelter of Johnstown . Brother- in-law, Robert Sobkowicz, niece , Sue Van Alstine and nephews, Robert , William and Wayne Sobkowicz.

Several cousins and his beloved pet rescue dog Luci also survive. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Sobkowicz. Funeral Services will be held on Monday February 18, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Rev.

William Hodgetts presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 42 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
