Bubniak, 94, formerly of Amsterdam, New York and most recently of Glenville, New York passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York. He was born March 13, 1925 in Amsterdam, New York a son of the late Albert and Victoria Pijanowski Bubniak. A lifelong Amsterdam resident, he was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

He moved to Glenville in 2016. During World War II, Mr. Bubniak served in the Army in the 4025th Signal Service Group in the Pacific as a Tec 4th Grade. Following his discharge, he first worked for West End Brewing Company.

For several years he was employed in the New York State Records Department. Lastly, he was employed as a Letter Carrier in Amsterdam before retiring. Joe was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, the American Legion, Polish-American Veterans and Bigelow-Sanford Weavers Club.

He enjoyed golf, bowling and softball and was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan. On April 30, 1949 he was united in marriage to Mary J. Draus Bubniak. She died January 22, 2011.

He was also predeceased by his siblings Genevieve Bielecki, Chester, Frank, John, Alfred, Alexander, Richard, Stephen, Raymond and Leon Bubniak. Survivors include his children Theresa Lyczko (Jonathan Laskowitz), Ithaca, New York, Ted (Linda) Bubniak, Rock City Falls, New York and Daniel (Patty) Bubniak, Crofton, Maryland; grandchildren Clare Bubniak (Robbert Olson), Annapolis, Maryland, Adam Bubniak, Maryland, Jeffra Hull, California and Rebecca Lyczko, Ithaca, New York; brother Victor Bubniak, San Jose, California; sisters-in-law, devoted niece Loretta Moore and husband Paul and additional nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at St. Stanislaus Church, Cornell Street, Amsterdam with Rev.

O. Robert De Martinis, Celebrant. Interment will be Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, New York at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours are 4 – 6 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home 200 Church Street, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Make-A-Wish Foundation or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
