Obituary of Howard Nare Howard “Cowboy” P. Nare, 96, of Indian Road, Fort Plain, NY died peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2019 following a brief illness. Born on August 11, 1922 he was the son of the late Floyd and Ruth Henry Nare. A lifelong area resident, Howard attended Hickory Hill School and worked all of his life.

He first was employed on the family dairy farm and later as a master mechanic for Upstate New York Operating Engineers. He was a life member of the Montgomery County Agricultural Society, the Ephratah Rod and Gun Club and the Fonda Reformed Church. On October 11, 1944 he was united in marriage to the former Mauricette M. Calbet.

That union lasted 64 years until her passing on April 15, 2008. He was also predeceased by his daughter Deborah; and two siblings, Richard Nare and Eileen Kruger. Survivors include his children, Donald Nare and his wife Judith of Gloversville and Russell Nare and his wife Melinda of Fort Plain; two siblings, Margaret Post and Lois Oare; seven grandchildren, Jason and Michele Nare, Colleen and Douglas Johnson, Pamela Nare, Amanda Miranda, Curtis and Lindsey Nare, Chad and Erin Nare, Lisa and Michael Simmons; thirteen great grandchildren, McKay, Elle, Dawson, Garret, Francesca “Frankie”, Charlotte, Joseph, Darian, Alexandra “Lexi”, Rhianna, Addison, Ava and Brody; one great great granddaughter, Dari’Yonna; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 1p. m at the Fonda Reformed Church, 19-21 Broadway, Fonda. Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 11a.m. at the church.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fonda Reformed Church.
